It’s February! This is Jennifer, writing from sunny Minnesota. As a VS Board member and sometime social media helper, I was trying to come up with a way to get the word out about this project, raise some funds to help us get closer to that goal of purchasing land in Oregon for our first sustainable tiny home community, and maybe add a little cheer to the world.
To that end, I made a happy little graphic to announce a BIG idea:
There’s lots of uncertainty out there right now, a lot of anger, a lot of frustration. Regardless of your political position, I am guessing that if you’re here you believe in supporting our veterans. My social media feed is FULL of people pointing out all kinds of social ills and asking what we can do about them. This is for everyone who is saying, “But what about the homeless veterans? They deserve our support!”
YES. We at Valiant Seed agree 100%. This organization is not political and claims no ideology other than that we know there are people who have served our country who need our help. We are committed to being there for them, and helping them receive shelter, clothing, medical treatment, and whatever else they need to be strong, independent, productive members of society.
Teresa dropped off some scarves to be distributed to homeless veterans in Portland, OR this week. We want to thank Fiber Marm and her friends for the donations – they are much appreciated! If you are a knitter or crocheter, warm scarves, hats and mittens are appreciated. You can email us through the website and we will let you know where to mail or drop them off.
So. You want a Valentine?
Yes. Well, kind of. Tell us you love us by DONATING. Your donations make a difference. We have already helped a veteran and family get back on their feet in Indiana through Family Promise and it was so exciting to know our work was making a difference. A ONE TIME DONATION is great — but a MONTHLY DONATION would be even better! Think about it; can you spare a few dollars a month to help make sure we have an ongoing stream of income? All donations are tax-deductible, and if we know we have a certain amount of money coming in each month we can plan ahead better, we can add to that nest egg for the land we need, and we can get the occasional clerical help we need to move the project forward.
From now through Valentine’s Day, if you set up a monthly donation of $20 (or more, if you can), we will send you a Valiant Seed t-shirt. Just click on the words “Take Action” above in the menu bar. You can use a debit or credit card or PayPal. So you’ll have a cool t-shirt, the satisfaction of knowing that you are making a difference in the lives of homeless vets, a tax deduction, and our undying love and gratitude.
What a bargain!
