As we prepare for our November build, the plight of female veterans is top of mind – both because our first home will house a female veteran, and because female veterans now are the fastest growing segment of the homeless veteran population.
Valiant Seed’s mission is to serve veterans, regardless of gender. But seeing this statistic confirms for us that our goal and mission are on target; that we need to get vets into stable housing in order to allow them to receive the other forms of help that they may need, whether that help is job training, therapy to treat PTSD, treatment of medical conditions, or a combination of these and more.
This article from Marie Claire talks about a new kind of treatment for female veterans with PTSD. At Valiant Seed we are always looking to see what other organizations are doing, how they are successfully helping veterans, and how we might partner with local organizations to bring similar programs and therapies to the veterans we serve.
Our November build is a huge step forward for us. It represents the culmination of years of work. But it is also just the first step into a whole new realm of service for this organization. We are determined to make a difference in the lives of veterans, but we can’t do it alone. Please donate as you are able to fund this work. Join us for the build with Zack Giffin.
